Camillo Thomas Melchiorre came from Montefredane, and 15 year old Generosa DiPippa came from Guardia Lombardi. Both towns are in the province of Avellino in the region of Campania, Italy. They came separately to the USA around 1902. They settled in Berwick, Pennsylvania, married and raised their family: Louisa, Josephine, Thomas, Filomena (died in infancy), Anthony, Angelo, Filomena, Amy, Camillo, Florence, Ida, Lawrence, Christina, Betty and John. A note on names: Melchiorre was misspelled (most likely) by Camillo’s employer as Merchiono. Camillo successfully petitioned the court (2 April 1948) to restore his surname to Melchiorre. Melchiorre appears elsewhere as Melchiono, Marchiorre, Merchiorre, and Melchiovne. Alternate spellings for DiPippa include, Di Pippa, Depippa, De Pippa, Dipippe, Di Pippi, Dipipa.
