Violin Lessons

Sunday, August 12th, 2007

After a brief summer break my lessons have started again. Right now I am working on two songs. One is The Happy Farmer by R. Schumann and the other is Gavotte by F.J. Gossec. After I “master” these two I think I will be allowed to move onto Suzuki Volume 2. It has been almost eight months since I started playing and so far I think I am doing pretty well. I do still screech and scratch my way through a lot of the songs though!

The Saga of Sunshine

Sunday, July 1st, 2007

My dad, Angelo Melchiorre, served in the Army Air Corp during WWII as a tail gunner on a B-24 Liberator named Sunshine. On March 29, 1944 Sunshine was forced to land in enemy territory. My dad and the rest of the crew spent the next 13 months in a German POW camp.
